  • Q. Can a protection conduit system protect cables against heat?A

    A: SILVYN® cable protection conduit systems can provide protection against external influences (mechanical, chemical, electrical). SILVYN® HIPROJACKET even protects the cable against fire or liquid metal, however the conduit cannot prevent the temperature inside the conduit being heated up. In other words, protection conduits can ward off sources of heat but they cannot actively cool the temperature.

  • Q. Where can I find the correct locknuts for SILVYN® conduit glands?

    A: The correct locknuts for conduit glands are located in the catalogue section for cable glands, plastic locknuts in SKINTOP® metallic locknuts under SKINDICHT®.

  • Q. Which conduits can I use outdoors? Where can I find the CE Declaration of Conformity for SILVYN® products?

    A: All plastic conduits, which are marked as UV- resistant. For metallic conduits the corrosion resistance must be considered, the customer must be fully aware of the application area involved. The most reliable choice amongst metallic conduits are the stainless-steel conduits because they are made of rust-resistant steel.

    There is no general and accessible CE certificate for conduit protection systems, they have to be requested and made separately from Product Management or technical department.

  • Q. Can I install protection conduits into hazardous areas?

    A: Cable protection conduits can also be installed in hazardous areas if their electrical conductivity is taken into consideration. Only electrically conductive outer materials may be used so that no sparking occurs in the event of any friction between two non-conductors. These sparks could lead to an explosion in a hazardous area. Fully-metallic conduits can be used in hazardous areas without any problems. When using SKINTOP® cable glands with a protection conduit, the protection conduit may end up being pressed-in, nor can connections be guaranteed to have a high tensile strength. SILVYN® conduit glands by contrast are always designed for a specific conduit size, and they only provide a connection option for this particular conduit size coupled with the appropriate sealing capability.
