SILVYN® - Flexible Cable Conduits

SILVYN®, the range of branded conduits and cable tracks offer the ideal solution for applications where additional protection from chemical and mechanical stress is required. It provides guidance system and protects cables effectively against dust, moisture, mechanical, thermal and chemical influences. LAPP has a wide range of metal and plastic conduits with matching glands. Our products are flexible, durable and ensure protection for indoor or outdoor application.

SILVYN® polyamide conduits are highly flexible and lightweight which can be used in public utilities, mechanical engineering, railway applications, vehicle construction, and moving applications. A metal protective cable conduit with a roughened profile protects cables against high mechanical stress. Under our SILVYN® brand, LAPP also provides suitable connectors for conduits. The connectors are compact, robust and can be used in combination with SILVYN® protective conduits. The versatile SILVYN® CHAIN range of energy supply chains also protect and guide cables in dynamic applications.

Application Range

- Everywhere where cables are used

Features

- Comprehensive range - The range of SILVYN® systems offer protection and guide cables against dust moisture, mechanical, thermal, and chemical influences. They are durable, crush-resistant, and abrasion-resistant. Certain versions are also grease, cooling agents, oils, UV, and chemical resistant.

- Variety of materials- Polyamide, polyester, soft and hard PVC, stainless steel, galvanised steel group, and fibreglass made cable conduits available.

- Wide temperature range - The cable conduits can withstand a wide range of temperatures from -5°C to +80°C. The temperature range depends on the version of the conduit as well as the material.

- Flame retardant- Specialised flame retardant conduits for Food and Beverage industries made to endure temperatures ranging from -40°C to +140°C. These cable conduits are made of polyamides or polypropylene.

- SILVYN® Hiprojackets and Hiprosiltape- Provide the added benefit of heat resistance and temporarily reduce the temperature inside the conduit by 30%.

- Quick and easy installation - Cables and wires can be smoothly fitted into cable conduits for easy installation. The flexible conduits with smooth inner surfaces make it easy to feed the cable inside.

- Certifications - UL listed, and accredited by ECOLAB®, and CE.

SILVYN® - Flexible Cable Conduits are Classified as Below

- Plastic Protective Cable Conduits

These conduits are made of soft PVC with hard PVC spiral. They are easy to assemble because of smooth inner wall. They are tear resistant and provide protection against chemicals.

- Parallel Corrugated Protective Cable Conduits

These conduits are made of polyamide (PA 6/PA 12) material which provides high flexibility even in cold temperature. These conduits are dimensionally stable, crush resistant and flame retardant. Being UV-resistant, makes it suitable for outdoor applications.

- Metal Protective Cable Conduits

These are helically wound metal conduits with interlocked profile and galvanized steel wire braiding to give protection from high mechanical stress. These conduits can be used in areas where wires and cables can be damaged by welding sparks and hot chips.Conduits with tinned copper braiding give optimum EMC protection where electromagnetic interference can occur.

FAQs

  • Q. What is cable conduit?

A cable conduit can be compared to a hollow tube that is used during the installation of cables. Conduit systems protect cables effectively from dust, moisture, chemical, mechanical and thermal influences.

  • Q. What is the difference between cable and conduit?

A conduit is a hollow tube that is used to pull cables through during installations. Cables, on the other hand, are a group of metallic conductors inside a protective sheathing.

  • Q. Does an electrical cable need to be in conduit?

The answer depends on the nature of the environment the cable is put in. A conduit is required if the cable needs to be protected from harsh environments.

  • Q. What are the types of conduits?

There are several types of conduits like protective conduits made of plastic or metal, corrugated conduits, metal conduits with a jacket, and protective conduits for special applications.

  • Q. What is a flexible conduit called?

A flexible conduit or flexible metallic conduit (MTC) is commonly called greenfield or flex. It is made with threaded fittings through helical coiling.

  • Q. Where can I use flexible conduit?

Flexible conduits are used in outdoor or industrial settings where a cable needs to be protected and supported. Flexible conduits are used along with electrical cables in control panels.

  • Q. How flexible is flexible conduit?

The helical coiling makes the conduit flexible, and it can be bent easily to fill the applications. It is flexible enough to change its shape during the installation process, while other conduits must be bent by force.

  • Q. Can flexible PVC conduit be exposed?

PVC conduits are considered the best for outdoor applications for flexible, durable, and corrosion-resistant properties.
