One of our key project highlights was working with a customer that designs and manufactures vertical lift module storage systems, picking solutions, and warehouse management (WMS) software for companies of all sizes, across different industries. Their engineering team was seeking a supplier capable of providing complete electrification, data communication, and cable movement within the lift systems.
Over the course of more than a year, we worked closely with the customer — dedicating extensive time to understanding their requirements, fine-tuning specifications and customising components to meet their needs.
During this process, one major challenge faced was designing the drag chain positioned at the side of the lift. This component was expected to support specific speeds and movement acceleration, while being able to handle the constant rotation of trays on different levels within the lift structure for hundreds of times every hour. With such high-frequency operation, it was essential for the drag chain to be built with exceptional durability and consistent reliability to function without fail.
Within the chain contains multiple cables responsible for data communication and servo controls. To guarantee optimal performance, every design detail was taken into consideration, from the precise calculation of cable lengths to the vigorous testing of travel distances with the customer, before the final bill of materials selection was approved.
Through close collaboration and deep technical involvement on the design-in phase, LAPP delivered more than just cable products. We were chosen for our commitment to offering high quality solutions backed by approvals and certifications, ensuring compatibility with different global industrial standards.
This vertical lift solution not only maximises floor space but also allows staff to access inventory quickly through a user-friendly touchscreen interface, making item retrieval smoother and movement around the warehouse more efficient and much easier.
